SEO

Is anyone here totally frustrated with the whole "getting on google" thing?
Many of the people I talk to are. We all know that 70% of all Internet search traffic comes from Google so we are stuck if you will dealing with how to best get exposure there.
It also may seem that 70% of all your email you get in a day is full of promises to get you #1 on google. This only ads to the frustration. Who do you trust? How much should you spend? How long is too long to wait for results? How should results be tracked and by whom?
Quickly you may realize that you can't just throw money at this and hope that it works. You do need to be savvy whether you go at this on your own or outsource it to another company. If you don't track your results you have no idea what works or not but this is like another job. Just what you were looking for right?
Ok, did I sum up the frustration everyone is feeling towards this Search Engine Optimization problem?
Well here are the two approaches to the google and seo.
Natural Search Engine Optimization
What it is: showing up on the 1st page of the natural listing section of google and other search engines.
How to do it: build website with relevant fresh content based on the keywords or search terms that you target. Build relevant inbound links from popular websites that have better ranking than you do for the same keywords you are targeting. And high click thru rates on your listing links on google.
I know this last one sounds like a catch 22, but google does reward your site the more it gets clicked on (and don't sit there all day clicking either because google knows better).
No guarantee: if someone wants to work harder or better than you, they will get better results and bump you down.
Paid for sponsor ads
Google adwords (link) will get you on first page but for a price. They will charge you based on the keyword popularity and how much exposure you can afford. If you ad when displayed triggers 1 click for every 10 times they put it up on the 1st page and it costs you 10cents every time someone clicks on your ad, they will use that info to spread out over a course of a month the number of times you need to show up on the 1st page to hit your monthly budget.
So if your monthly budget is $100, your add will show up 10,000 times on the 1st page of google in a month. See how that works?
Sounds simple right? but it's not. there is a lot to do. You have to define the best keywords/search terms, write an ad that will convert into clicks and devote hours each month to track and tweak the information to improve your results. Do you want to add another job to the list of jobs you already have running your business?
What I suggest is to find a solution that will get you results fast. Remember, a perfect campaign will still only drive traffic to your website. That's all it does. Make sure your website(link) has the right information to help the visitor act on your offer.
